I play music, because I can. I never said I was any good. I do have a very unique job in the broadcast industry, and have been very lucky to meet, be in some bands with and learn from the best. Some went on to bigger things. How does this happen ? My secret formula is 1 % talent, 99 % luck. Being in the right place at the right time.
Bands are magic Great musicians do not always make great bands . Good musicians who get along, and stick together make great bands.
I play 5 string bass, upright, acoustic guitar, electric guitar ( a simple lead kinda player...) a Roland Midi guitar synth ( it is unique ) 5 notes on the mandolin, 11 notes on the dobro, and "G" on the banjo... plus the radio real loud. I still sing, or at least try . I am as bad as some others out there. I play some percussion (conga's etc) but I am not a drummer. I write for fun, and to enter song contests. I have PA, lights etc, use a lot of wireless stuff, IEM's, and trick's of the trade. ( I owned a pro-sound company in the 80's) .
I have a very supportive family, work drug free, and expect the same from band mates. I recorded the demos and host the band web pages ( linked on my links page). I play all the parts on my original songs ..(the keys are from the Roland Guitar Midi, a Leslie 51, and alt tuning on the mandolin). Below are some snips of a few songs from gigs.. MP-3's from live recordings, complete with mistakes & a couple bass overdubs.
